BEST BETS FOR MONDAY, MAR. 8, 2010

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER

CBS, 8 p.m. ET

The best guest star of the night is claimed, no question, by this show, which features Jennifer Lopez as a woman aimed at Neil Patrick Harris’ Barney, with the exact intent of whittling him down to size. Has Barney, at long last, met his match? Undoubtedly.

HOUSE

Fox, 8 p.m. ET

After hiding low for the Olympics, this show returns with a fun subplot: Following Wilson’s lead, House tries his hand at speed-dating… where his quick wit isn’t necessarily viewed as an asset.

24

Fox, 9 p.m. ET

Jack’s on one side of a locked door, and a suicide bomber with an explosive vest is on the other. How to keep the terrorist from blowing himself up? Bring something valuable within the blast radius – something, say, like the bomber’s beloved mother.

CASTLE

ABC, 10 p.m. ET

Another series returning after an Olympics time-out, this episode winds its way into the underground culture of BDSM – and when Castle is taken shopping at a bondage boutique, he’s less appalled than intrigued.

DAMAGES

FX, 10 p.m. ET

Just when she thought she was out, they suck her back in: Rose, once again, gets pulled nearer and nearer to Patty’s powerful, wobbly orbit.

SECRET DIARY OF A CALL GIRL

Showtime, 10 p.m. ET

Billie Piper, as Belle, is smiling so widely because she thinks she’s finally found the man of her dreams – but her jealous friend, Ben, doesn’t exactly approve.
